Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2024 - 2029

How are we doing?

Included in the full Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy document is a full action plan, which gives details of what we intend to do, who will take the lead, how this will be funded, and what our initial steps will be.

This action plan will become a ‘live’ document, led by the council but owned by the wider partnership, to track our progress.

We will report to councillors on a regular basis and will record and monitor key indicators as an indication of our progress towards ending homelessness.

These include:

  • Number of households prevented from becoming homeless
  • Proportion of people approaching as at risk of homelessness (compared with those approaching at the point of homelessness)
  • Number of households in temporary and emergency accommodation (and the cost to the council)
  • Number of people verified as sleeping rough (on a ‘snapshot’ night and over a month)
  • Number of lettings to social housing
