What to do if you've got nowhere to stay tonight
Nowhere to stay
If you’re worried you’ve got nowhere to stay tonight, please let us know. The earlier you let us know during the day, the more likely it is that you’ll be seen by a Housing Options Officer.
What happens next?
When you contact us, we’ll take the details of your situation to see how best we can help. We might ask you to show us proof of your circumstances, such as:
- proof of income
- bank statements
- a notice to quit (if applicable)
Once we’ve assessed your details, we’ll contact you to give you an appointment with one of our Housing Options Officers. You can find out what to expect from your Housing Options appointment on our once you've told us you’re homeless page.
Out of hours
If you need help when our office is closed, you should
- call our emergency out of hours number on 01553 616601
Depending on your circumstances, we’ll decide whether we can help arrange accommodation for you.
Many people believe that if they’re homeless they’ll be entitled to social housing. Unfortunately, not everyone is entitled to social housing, and the accommodation we help you with may be temporary accommodation.
