Supporting 16-30 year olds in across West Norfolk with opportunities for improved skills and jobs, through UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF)

BOOST provides individual support for 16-30 year olds across the whole of West Norfolk from April 2024.

Tailored to the persons situation BOOST can offer a range of opportunities to support young people, providing employability support, basic skills, training, and mentoring; get in touch with us if you are:

• aged 16-18 and leaving College or Sixth Form? Maybe you are not in education, employment, or training
• aged 18-30 and unemployed, looking for work or support
• aged 18-30 in employment but feel you would benefit from some training

With the BOOST project, we can support you to feel inspired, build your skills, or help you develop your career.

We are a person-led project, and we will endeavour to create the right support package to suit your needs. This could be helping to support your confidence to get into work, training, mentoring or formal qualifications. From marketing to fork-lift truck driving - we have it all!

Project background

The BOOST project brings together a unique partnership of local organisations - with leadership and support from Norfolk County Council and the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk - to transform the prospects of some of the most marginalised young people across West Norfolk.

Originally funded by The Town Deal Fund in King’s Lynn until March 2024, the project is now extending Borough-wide from April 2024, with support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Our partnership has already supported over 500 young people facing the most significant barriers to accessing learning and work, who are now able to recognise their talents and realise their potential, while BOOST provides a support framework that will increase the skills within our local workforce.

The project has developed a range of engagement and support activities for young people, raising aspirations and promoting accessible support activities, specialist training provision and employment opportunities.

It provides:

• a conduit to Careers/IAG and youth support services
• a central information point and referral mechanism, maximising local engagement with regional/countywide provision, including other UK Shared Prosperity Fund programmes and National Funding
• a coordinating agency for education and business links in the locality, increasing opportunities for young people and developing a local response to workforce skills requirements

The BOOST Project is being led by Norfolk County Council working with The King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Skills Group.
