West Norfolk Rural Communities Project Call 2025/26 (Closing 16 June 2025)
The Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk is inviting expressions of interest for high quality rural capital projects to create new and improved community infrastructure providing essential community services and assets for residents in our rural areas.
Capital grants are available for between £10,000 - £50,000 to support up to 80% of eligible project costs. Expressions of interest must be submitted by 8am on Monday 16 June 2025.
Projects must meet the objectives of the West Norfolk Economic Vision and Strategy which will guide the 2025-26 investment of REPF across rural west Norfolk.
REPF is provided by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and grants are administered by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.
What type of projects are invited?
Projects should reflect one or more of the following investment areas:
- Investment in capacity building and infrastructure support for local civil society and community groups.
- Impactful volunteering and social action projects to develop social and human capital.
- Investment and support for digital infrastructure for local community facilities.
- Rural circular economy projects.
- Creation of and improvements to local rural green spaces.
- Active travel enhancements in the local area.
- The development and promotion of the visitor economy.
- Local arts, cultural, heritage and creative activities.
- Existing cultural, historic and heritage institutions that make up the local heritage offer.
Pre-application criteria and how to apply:
To be eligible for REPF grant funding, projects must be delivered within, and directly benefit, a designated rural area for the purposes of REPF.

Active Community Programme
The Active Community programme delivers fun and engaging free of charge leisure activities across the borough at locally accessible sites including the Alive West Norfolk leisure sites, community centres and outdoor spaces with a focus on reaching our rural areas.

St George's Guildhall activity programme
The St George’s Guildhall Activity Programme has established a successful series of learning and engagement events linked to, and supporting, the restoration of the St George’s Guildhall including community and cultural events and exhibitions, a varied learning programme for both schools and home educators, and the provision of clubs and holiday activities.

BOOST
BOOST helps young people aged 16-30 across west Norfolk by offering careers advice and guidance, access to youth support services, a central hub for local support services and connections to employers and training providers. Opportunities can be accessed to achieve industry specific qualifications, vocational training, basic skills and life skills, the securing of sustainable employment and more.

On Track (The Matthew Project)
On Track supports young people through one-to-one motivational coaching to develop social and employability skills, and group-based enrichment sessions to support vulnerable young people develop vital work skills and build community with their peers. Sessions help to identify gaps in employability skills, provide the tools to gain these skills, and provide positive activities to boost self-esteem and social skills.

Volunteer it Yourself (VIY)
VIY delivery supports young people (aged 16+ and economically inactive) to develop new vocational trade and construction skills, and improve broader employability skills, whilst helping to refurbish and retrofit local community facilities (e.g. youth/community centres, grassroots sports clubs and leisure facilities, arts and cultural venues, public green spaces, homes/supported housing). Young people are mentored on the job by, and work alongside, professional tradespeople and work towards and achieve City & Guilds skills accreditations. They also receive support to progress to employment and further/higher-level training opportunities beyond the end of their VIY experience.

Visitor Economy Network Initiative (VENI)
VENI works to support the local visitor economy by creating opportunities for educators, businesses and students to work together to expand the skills horizon in Kings Lynn and West Norfolk. The project provides a delivery programme to inspire and support people to explore, access and develop career opportunities in the visitor economy through events, work experience and skills development, making visible the services, careers and breadth of jobs available, and inspiring people to explore the sector further.

Heritage Volunteering Collective
This project aims to build a sustainable model for heritage volunteering to increase the diversity of the volunteer base and develop skills to facilitate wider opening opportunities for the town’s historic sites.

Light Projection Programme
Development and planning of content to complement the wider cultural offer in alignment with the Culture and Heritage strategy for King's Lynn Priority 2 ‘Animating King’s Lynn Heritage’ which includes the vision to transform King’s Lynn into a dynamic, innovative and interactive heritage centre.
