An overview of the projects delivered via the Borough Council via Rural England Prosperity Funding (REPF) from 2023-2025
The Borough Council cabinet approved use of West Norfolk Prosperity Funding to support the delivery of the West Norfolk Investment Plan priorities during the period 2023-2025.
Rural Communities Support new and improved community infrastructure, providing essential community services and assets for local people and businesses to benefit the local economy. Rural Businesses Support new and existing rural businesses to develop new products and facilities that will be of wider benefit to the local economy. This includes farm businesses looking to diversify income streams
What projects received REPF funding via the Borough Council from 2023-2025?
West Norfolk Rural Community Capital Grants
Grant funding opportunities were opened to support investment in resilient community services and assets for local people. This programme was managed by Norfolk Community Foundation on behalf of the Borough Council.
In 2023/24 grants were awarded for volunteering & social action projects to develop social and human capital in local places. (Rural Communities Funds awarded).
In 2024/25 grants were awarded to support community projects which enabled capacity building & investment in infrastructure (£0.5Million Grants awarded in West Norfolk).
Rural Active Travel
Working in partnership with Norfolk County Council to deliver Active Travel improvements across rural West Norfolk including:
- Interpretation and art for the rural west Norfolk stretch of the Norfolk Coastal Path
- Walking and Cycling Waymarker Audit and Hunstanton cycle route development
Parish cycle storage grants - The West Norfolk Community Cycle Storage Grants, funded by the Rural England Prosperity Fund, and by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for non-rural parishes, provided funding to enable the purchase of cycle storage infrastructure in 24 parishes to support and encourage cycling within our rural areas.
Downham Market signage scheme received REPF investment to install new signage for key town centre active travel routes.
West Norfolk Rural Business Capital Grants Scheme (Round 1)
This grant scheme provided funding to support new and existing rural businesses to develop new products and facilities that will be of wider benefit to the local economy and to support the development and promotion of the visitor economy.
This programme was run by Norfolk County Council in conjunction with the Borough Council.
