About the proposals
The Department of Transport published Statutory Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle Standards in July last year. A review of the Borough Council’s Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing Procedures & Conditions has been conducted as a result of changes within the Standards.
A number of changes are proposed and fall into two categories; those as a result of changes in statutory standards such as the introduction of a 6 monthly Disclosure & Barring Service check for drivers and those where we believe existing conditions need updating such as the categories of altered vehicles.
Prior to introducing any new conditions or proposed changes to existing conditions was is appropriate that we consulted with the trade before doing so.

Consultation
The public were invited to give their views on the changes to our conditions.
This consultation period ran until 13 December 2021.
Please note that any changes to our conditions would be subject to approval by Full Council.
