We take part in the Green Flag Award and the Anglia In Bloom campaigns, which seek to help councils improve and enhance the local environment and quality of green spaces
Green Flag Award
The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. The aim of the award is to encourage local authorities to work with local communities and parks groups to achieve high environmental standards, creating a benchmark of excellence in recreational green areas. Awards are given on an annual basis and winners must apply each year to renew their Green Flag status for each site.
There are five Green Flag Award Parks within the borough these are:
- The Walks, King's Lynn
- The Tower Gardens, King's Lynn
- Mintlyn Crematorium, King's Lynn
- Hunstanton Heritage Gardens, Hunstanton
- Boston Square Sensory Park, Hunstanton

The In Bloom campaigns
The towns of West Norfolk are all engaged with the Anglia In Bloom campaign and enter each year. The Anglia in Bloom is a registered charitable organisation and is entirely managed and run by volunteers from the six counties of the eastern region.
Their constitutional aims are:
- to promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment
- to advance the education of the public in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment
Judging takes place in July and is centred around three core pillars:
- horticultural achievement
- environmental responsibility
- community participation

Each year a portfolio is put together for the judges to read before judging day. This portfolio demonstrates the support from local communities and details the past years improvements and schemes. We have available the following portfolio's:
King's Lynn In Bloom
King's Lynn first entered the campaign in 2006. The King's Lynn in Bloom committee has been made up of a variety of dedicated residents, gardening enthusiasts, council officers and local businesses since it began, supported by a range of community groups, schools and volunteers.
The committee has successfully achieved improvements throughout the town and this is evident in the results of the campaign and the community's ongoing support and involvement.
Hunstanton In Bloom
Hunstanton first entered Anglia in bloom in 2004. Hunstanton In Bloom Committee has a mixture of dedicated residents, gardening enthusiasts, council officers, local businesses, entrepreneurs and others to ensure that the towns major horticultural Improvements are appealing to the eye but also sustainable for generations to come. Since our first entry in 2004, we have been delighted with the consistent improvements in our awards.
