SIA Approved Contractor

We, the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, currently hold SIA Approved Contractor Scheme Status for the provision of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Cash Valuables in Transit (CViT) services.

The objective of the SIA's Approved Contractor scheme is to raise performance standards and to assist the private security industry in developing new opportunities.

The scheme is voluntary and was developed in consultation with representatives from across the industry; it only covers those parts of the industry that are regulated by the SIA and the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (as amended). There is a single scheme, with sector-specific approval based on a relevant set of qualifying criteria.

SSAIB (Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board) UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) Accreditation

We hold UKAS accreditation through the SSAIB as a CCTV Management & Operations Centre.

SSAIB has wide UKAS accreditation, which means that our certification is subject to independent scrutiny and validation against international standards.

UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by Government to assess against internationally agreed standards.

Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators.

Surveillance Camera Code Compliant

The code sets out 12 guiding principles which strike a balance between protecting the public and upholding civil liberties.

The principles provide a coherent and comprehensive structure to enable good and transparent decision-making that will reassure the public that surveillance cameras are used to protect and support communities rather than spy on them.
