Information about cooling towers and how to register one

Registration

Businesses with cooling towers and evaporative condensers are required by law to register with the local authority.

The purpose of registration is to:

  • identify potential areas that could give rise to spread of infectious disease (for example, legionella)
  • ensure measures are taken to eliminate the risk of such infection

To register you'll need:

  • your contact details
  • the number and location of cooling towers or evaporative condensers
  • be able to supply a site plan
