DVLA photocard update

Information about updating your DVLA photocard

Keep your photocard up to date

Your DVLA photocard must be renewed every 10 years, up to the age of 70. It's illegal to drive without a valid licence and, if you are caught driving without one you can be fined up to £1,000.

Your photocard licence can be renewed online at the DVLA digital services website: How to renew your driving licence online (GOV.UK)

Condition 7.7 states that the expiry date of a combined driver’s licence will not be later than the expiry date of the photograph on a DVLA licence.

You must complete this form to update your combined drivers licence.

To report a change you'll need:

  • a credit card or debit card for the £11.00 fee
  • a copy of your new DVLA driving licence photocard (front and back, uploads accepted) within 28 days
