Refurbishment of Downham Market toilets

A £200k budget has been set aside for the refurbishment of the toilets at the Town Hall car park in Downham Market.

These toilets, which serve the shopping centre and regular market, were first installed as part of a £1.7m regeneration programme in the town in 2003.  In more recent years, maintenance of these toilets has become increasingly difficult because of their modular nature and the lack of availability of parts from the company that manufactured and installed them. They are often closed more than they are open, which is an unacceptable situation.

A multi-discipline design team is being sought to develop solution.  The designs will be drawn up and shared with stakeholders ahead of works taking place and it is hoped that the project will be completed towards the end of the year.

In the meantime every effort is being made to keep the existing facilities open where possible.
