About the event

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk and Radio West Norfolk are organising a West Norfolk Battle of the Bands (BOTB) competition which is open to any band in the West Norfolk area.

The band must have its roots in West Norfolk and include a significant number of band members living in our area.

The band should have at least 3 members. All genres of music are welcomed.

The entry form will initially require you to upload a recording of the band or provide a link to a You Tube video to assist the judges in assessing your entry. At a future date a high-quality recording (preferably in wav format) should be provided in order that your song can be played on Radio West Norfolk. In addition, you must undertake to carry out an interview with Simon Rowe on Radio West Norfolk.

All entries will be judged by an appointed panel of judges and eight bands will be chosen to take part in the Grand Final Competition Day.

On a large stage each band will play a 20-minute set with a strict 15-minute turnaround time in between bands. A drum set will be supplied on stage for each band, so each band uses the same set of drums. Each drummer may supply their own symbols and snare. All sound equipment will be supplied and a sound engineer is supplied.

Once all eight bands have played their 20-minute sets the judges will announce their chosen winner, who will then be invited back on stage to play one more song in celebration. The prize awaiting the winner is a 20-minute set on the stage of Festival Too 2025 in King’s Lynn!

Further guidelines will be issued to the 8 Finals Day bands. Throughout the whole of the competition, the judges/organisers’ decisions are final and must be accepted in good spirit by all bands. No challenge need be accepted, nor explanation need be given.

The BOTB Grand Final will be part of a ‘Hunstanton Rocks’ music weekend. We hope all your supporters will attend to cheer you along on the day. The event will be covered heavily on Radio West Norfolk, both in the build-up and afterwards.
