Published: Thursday, 27th November 2025

A grant scheme to help with the cost of buying lasting capital equipment or small building upgrades to improve community provision for rural areas of West Norfolk is now open.

The borough council is inviting applications from local groups, volunteering projects and community organisations.

The scheme provides opportunities for grants of £1,000-£5,000 to fund up to 80% of eligible costs for capital projects.

Grants are funded via the Rural England Prosperity Fund from the Government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and are administered by the Borough Council.

The scheme is open now and closes at 11am on Monday 11th January 2026.

Projects must benefit the wider rural community and must be completed by 31 March 2026.

  • Projects should improve provision for a community facility, amenity or outdoor space through the purchase of equipment which has a useful lifespan of 12months+ or small building improvements. Examples pf projects that could be supported are: Catering equipment for a village hall to enable an expanded offer.
  • Gardening equipment for community allotments to maximise growing opportunities.
  • Tables, chairs and gazebos for community events.
  • New permanent play equipment.
  • A projector / screen for community cinema.
