Schemes to help with Council Tax
If you’re having problems paying your Council Tax, contact us as soon as you can. We may take action against people who don’t pay but if we know you’re having a problem we can help. There are several ways we can help, for example by spreading the cost or checking if you are eligible for help with the cost of Council Tax.
We are helping more than 3,000 residents who receive Council Tax Support in 2023/2024 by applying a £50 credit to their Council Tax bills. This has been funded by the Government’s Council Tax Support Fund scheme.
How to claim the £50 credit:
You don’t need to claim, the credit will be applied automatically to your 2023/2024 council tax bill. If you think you should be eligible and haven’t had it, you can call the council on 01553 616200.
