Mayor's Design Awards

Information about our Mayor's Design Awards

Our award ceremony

Our Mayor's Design Awards celebrate local architectural excellence and craftsmanship. The awards are presented every two years.

The 2018 awards ceremony was held at the town hall on 25 September.

The winners

30 schemes were shortlisted for the awards under a number of different categories. The event had an additional category of the Mayor's Special Award, to reflect the high standard of entries made.

The overall Gold award winner was Davaar House, Docking. In the judging panel's opinion, this is an exceptional scheme which not only has high environmental sustainability credentials, but is also a clever and distinctive design that sits comfortably on its plot and takes advantage of the views afforded by the surrounding countryside.

All this year's entries were judged by a panel, who were:

  • Cllr Nick Daubney, the Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk
  • Cllr Vivienne Spikings (chair of the Planning Committee)
  • Cllr Mick Peak (vice-chair of the Planning Committee)
  • Stuart Ashworth (Assistant Director, Environment and Planning)
