Job description
Area Team Leader (starting salary between £53,000 and £56,000)
We need you to help shape our borough’s future, balancing new growth planned for the area with preservation of its unique environment and heritage. As a Principal Planner you’ll have an exceptional opportunity to showcase your skills and experience as part of our management team.
As a fully qualified Planners with RTPI Membership, you will have at least five years post-qualification experience working in Development Management and management experience. You will also have your own small caseload of complex planning applications and associated appeals and provide sound advice and judgements for a range of audiences.
We’re looking for a leader who can inspire and motivate their own team as well as playing a key role in the planning department management team. You’ll be dealing with colleagues, members of the public, councillors and more so excellent communication and customer care skills are a priority.
Job description
Senior Planner (starting salary between £44,832 and £48,708)
We’re looking for a fully-qualified Planner with RTPI Membership and at least three years post-qualification experience at a Planner level. We need someone who can carry out the more complex casework and if you are interested in more strategic development, there are opportunities to become a lead officer dealing with major applications within our largest housing allocation, the West Winch Growth Area, as well as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
Planner (starting salary from £37,080 and £44,831)
We’re looking for someone with a degree in Town Planning, with at least two years relevant work experience and eligible for full membership of the RTPI. You can progress through to Senior Planner with training and experience gained on the job.
For both roles we’re looking for team players who have excellent communication and customer care skills and an enthusiasm for gaining experience in all aspects of urban, coastal and rural planning.

Relocation package
We offer a relocation package of up to £8k to newly appointed officers who move their home into the borough.
The package includes financial assistance with relocation expenses including such items as temporary accommodation expenses, removal expenses and travelling and house purchase expenses.
