Remembrance events to take place across West Norfolk

Remembrance Sunday 8 November 2026 in Tower Gardens King's Lynn

Published: Tuesday, 3rd November 2026

The annual wreath-laying ceremony will take place in King’s Lynn on Sunday 8 November 2026, as communities across West Norfolk come together to mark Remembrance Sunday.

The Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, Cllr Steve Bearshaw, will lead the borough’s principal act of remembrance at the War Memorial in Tower Gardens, King's Lynn, at 11am. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend and pay their respects alongside veterans, service personnel, civic representatives and community organisations.

A ceremonial procession will make its way from the Saturday Market Place to Tower Gardens ahead of the service.

At the War Memorial, wreaths will be laid by the Mayor and representatives from a range of organisations. The Last Post will be sounded ahead of the traditional two-minute silence and act of remembrance.

The Tower Gardens ceremony provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to come together to remember those who have lost their lives in service to their country.

Following the ceremony, the civic procession will return to King’s Lynn Minster, where a service of remembrance will take place.

Cllr Steve Bearshaw, Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, said:

“Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity to honour those who gave their lives in the service of our country and to reflect on the sacrifices made by service personnel, both past and present.

“I would encourage residents to join us in remembering those who served and ensuring that their courage and sacrifice are never forgotten.”

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk has been committed to the Armed Forces Covenant since 2013. The Covenant represents a pledge that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect.

In September 2026, the council achieved the Gold Award in the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme, the highest national award recognising its active support for the Armed Forces Community. The award recognises the council's support for the Armed Forces Community, including employment-related support for colleagues who are reservists and people leaving the forces who need help securing employment or training.
