A new partnership, aimed at ensuring employees are encouraged to learn and access learning opportunities throughout their careers, has been launched at the Borough Council.
The Council and UNISON have launched the new Learning Partnership to help create a workplace where learning is encouraged, valued and accessible to everyone.
Chief Executive of the Borough Council, Kate Blakemore, said:
“A commitment to learning has so many benefits. Some are obvious, such as the improved quality of service we can achieve with a skilled and trained workforce. Others are less obvious but just as meaningful, such as the increased confidence people can achieve by improving their skills and knowledge.
“This partnership reinforces our commitment to our colleagues, and recognises the benefits of learning both for the organisation and for individuals.”
UNISON representative and Borough Council Scientific Officer, Fabia Pollard, said:
“Everyone should have the opportunity to grow, develop new skills and reach their potential, whatever their job or stage of their career. This partnership is about creating a supportive environment where colleagues feel confident to explore new opportunities and invest in their future.
“Alongside the work of the Learning Partnership, UNISON offers members access to a wide range of free learning and development opportunities. From digital and workplace skills to qualifications and personal development, these resources help people build confidence, broaden their horizons and take the next step in their personal or work life.”
HR Business Partner, Karen Hawkins, added:
“I am delighted to be part of this Learning Partnership Agreement. It reflects the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk's shared commitment with UNISON to invest in our people, support lifelong learning, promote inclusion, and create opportunities for colleagues to develop the skills they need to thrive now and in the future.”
The partnership helps learners to find out about training opportunities, gain support to develop new skills and improve digital confidence, for work and in everyday life.
