Food for Thought Programme Comes to Upwell

Food for Thought Programme Comes to Upwell

Published: Monday, 14th September 2026

Residents in and around Upwell are invited to discover new recipes, improve their cooking skills and meet new people as our popular Food for Thought programme arrives at Upwell Methodist Church.

The free weekly sessions, led by a professional chef, offer practical cooking demonstrations, healthy eating advice and budget-friendly meal ideas. Open to people of all ages and abilities, the programme is designed to help residents gain confidence in the kitchen while enjoying a relaxed and welcoming community environment.

Whether you're looking to try new recipes, make the most of your food budget or simply connect with others in your local area, Food for Thought provides a friendly space to learn, share and socialise.

Cllr Jo Rust, Cabinet Member for People and Communities, said:
"Food for Thought is about much more than cooking. It gives people the confidence to prepare healthy, affordable meals while bringing residents together in a friendly and supportive environment.

We're delighted to bring the programme to Upwell, making it easier for people across the surrounding villages to take part. Previous participants have told us they not only enjoyed learning new recipes and practical money-saving tips, but also valued the friendships and social connections they made along the way. We look forward to welcoming both new and returning participants to the sessions."

The programme will run every Wednesday from 9.30am to 11.30am from 23 September to 9 December 2026 at Upwell Methodist Church, 94 Town Street, Upwell, Wisbech, PE14 9DQ.

The sessions are free to attend, child-friendly and no booking is required.
