Mintlyn Crematorium first Community Bereavement Services Open Day

For many years, Mintlyn has hosted annual open days, but this year we’re going further, creating a space where visitors can learn about the crematorium, meet local partners, and access information that may help during times of loss and the difficult times that surround it.

The open day, which takes place between 9.30am and 1pm, is a chance for members of the public to explore all areas of the crematorium which is owned and managed by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk. Visitors will be able to speak with funeral professionals from the local community.

We took this opportunity to invite local partners to join our event. Those who will be supporting to share their expertise and guidance include: AJ Coggles, Thornalley Funeral Service, Richard King Memorials, Janet and Jayne Florists, Townies Carriage Masters, Churches Together King’s Lynn, Philip Parker Associates ltd, Friends of Hardwick Cemetery and various Civil Celebrants.

 

Chris Black, Crematorium and Cemeteries Manager for the borough council, said:

"We’ve held this open day for many years and they’re always popular. At previous events, we have had more than 300 people visiting but for this year we wanted to offer even more by inviting the partners we work closely with, giving visitors more opportunity to ask questions and receive support.

"Our aim is to create a calm, supportive space where people can learn how the crematorium works and feel comfortable asking any sensitive questions they may have."

The Mintlyn staff will be offering tours and talks of the building, the grounds, the cremation process and memorials every 45 minutes throughout the event. Visitors can also explore the beautiful grounds, take quiet moments of reflection, and visit the Book of Remembrance Room.

We are proud to support Tapping House, 8:56 Foundation, and the Mayor’s Charities: The Purfleet Trust and The Bridge for Heroes. Any donations made during the event will be shared between these important causes.

Mintlyn opened in 1980 and has provided a sensitive and respectful service to thousands of local families.
