A new, councillor-led grant scheme from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk has opened, offering support to communities with grants of up to £25,000.
The Community Projects Fund can be used to improve local facilities, enhance wellbeing and strengthen community resilience.
Cllr Alistair Beales, Council Leader, said:
“In our large and rural borough, our councillors play a vital role in communities and this scheme will help them to give direct support to those communities by funding projects that make a difference.
“Councillors and officers have worked incredibly hard to create the financial conditions that have allowed us to create this scheme, which gives communities a very real say in how they are supported.
“I’m looking forward to seeing people’s ideas come to fruition.”
The Community Projects Fund can be used for both revenue (up to £5,000) and capital (up to £25,000) grants. It complements the Borough Council’s Small Grants Scheme, which launched earlier this month.
Examples of projects that can be supported by the fund can include (but are not limited to):
- Improvements to community buildings, play areas, or sports facilities
- Projects enhancing local green spaces or environmental sustainability
- Activities promoting health, wellbeing, or social inclusion
- Community safety initiatives
- Digital or infrastructure improvements where there is a direct community benefit
Depending on how many applications are received/funded in the first round, a second round of applications is planned for spring 2027.
