Have your say on final draft of Hunstanton Masterplan

Hunstanton Masterplan

Published: Monday, 29th June 2026

The Hunstanton community can now have their say on the final draft of a regeneration vision for the seaside town, supporting regeneration, investment and opportunity in the area over the next 20 years

Since last autumn, the borough council has spoken with a wide range of local and statutory stakeholders to shape the Masterplan, including town/parish councils and local businesses, as well as holding an initial public consultation which saw more than 240 people attend drop-in events and 109 responses to a questionnaire.

Supported by Norfolk-based multi-disciplinary specialists, Greyfriars, all feedback on the initial draft of the Masterplan vision and the concept designs has been carefully considered to identify key themes and, where possible, used to refine the plans considering national policy guidance and deliverability.

Now people are invited to have their say on the final draft Masterplan in a follow-up public consultation, from Monday 29 June to Monday 27 July, before it is updated further if necessary and considered for adoption by the borough council later in 2026.

The Masterplan seeks to enhance Hunstanton as a beautiful and high-quality place to live, visit and do business, to boost the resort as a year-round visitor destination beyond the main holiday season, celebrating its most unique assets while improving the town centre and connections with the seafront. Specific projects will continue to emerge and evolve in partnership with the community, businesses and partner organisations over the lifetime of the plan.

Once agreed, the Masterplan will put Hunstanton in a stronger position to secure investment opportunities from the public and private sectors, as well as inform shorter-term improvements and longer-term regeneration ambitions, including specific projects such as renewal of the sea defences and promenade.

Cllr Simon Ring, Deputy Council Leader, said: “I would like to thank everyone who has supported the master-planning process so far, whether joining in at workshops, one of the previous drop-in events, or taking part in the previous consultations that have collectively fed into this current vision.

“Working with the community, we want to take Hunstanton forward, based on its classic offering as a Victorian seaside destination and as a key service centre and amenity for local residents, respecting and capitalising on its unique heritage, culture and character as a high-quality, beautiful place to live and visit.

“The Masterplan is an important strategic starting point for planning for the future of Hunstanton, to drive regeneration, investment and opportunity over the next 10-20 years. Crucially, it’s also designed to be flexible enough to accommodate schemes backed with investment that might emerge with businesses and/or public sector partners, so this is part of an ongoing conversation with the community and partners.

“If you live in the Hunstanton area, work there or visit, please do take the time to look at the final draft, come along to one of the drop-in sessions if you can, and have your say prior to adoption. Because we want to have a collective vision that everyone feels they can get behind, rooted in the town’s strength’s, opportunities and people’s collective ambitions for Hunstanton.”
