A service that has supported thousands of people to remain living independently in their own homes will be celebrated at a special event marking 40 years of Careline Community Service in West Norfolk.

Careline Community Service provides a 24/7 personal alarm system to residents across Norfolk and parts of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Lincolnshire, offering reassurance that help is always just the press of a button away.

The Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk will be among the guest speakers at the anniversary event, which takes place on Wednesday 20 May at King’s Lynn Town Hall between 10am to 2pm. Residents are welcome to attend and can book a free place by visiting the careline-cs.org.uk/events/

The celebration will bring together local service providers, share memories from across the decades, and feature a live illustrator capturing the 40‑year story of Careline and its evolution into the service it is today. Free refreshments will also be available.

Cllr Jo Rust, Cabinet member for People and Communities, said:

“For four decades, Careline has been a quiet but vital lifeline for people who want to stay safe, confident and independent in the place they know best — their own home. What makes this service remarkable isn’t just the technology, but the compassion and dedication of the small team behind it. They treat every customer as an individual, and that personal touch has made a difference to tens of thousands of lives.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone and the people — staff, partners, and customers — who have shaped Careline’s journey. Long may this service continue to support our communities.”
