Published: Friday, 10th April 2026

Residents are being encouraged to make sure they’re ready to vote in the upcoming Norfolk County Council elections, as the list of candidates is published today.

All county council divisions across Norfolk are up for election on 7 May. A total of 78 candidates are standing for election across the 14 county council divisions within the King’s Lynn & West Norfolk area. Full details of all valid nominations can be found at west-norfolk.gov.uk/nccelection.

Each division will elect one county councillor to represent them once votes are counted.

Make sure you’re registered

Polling cards were sent out last month to everyone already on the electoral register. Anyone not yet registered still has time to do so—the deadline is 11.59pm on Monday 20 April. Registering is quick and easy at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Voters can choose to cast their ballot:

  • By post
  • By proxy, by appointing someone they trust to vote on their behalf

Anyone without an accepted form of ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April. Visit electoralcommission.org.uk/voterID or call 0800 328 0280 for details.
