Residents are being reminded to ensure they are registered to vote ahead of the Norfolk County Council Election taking place on Thursday 7 May.
All County Council seats across Norfolk are being contested, including 14 divisions within the King’s Lynn & West Norfolk area.
The deadline to register to vote is 11:59pm on Monday 20 April. Registering is quick and simple at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Voters will be able to cast their ballot in person, by post, or by proxy (appointing someone they trust to vote on their behalf).
Voters attending a polling station on 7 May will need to show an accepted form of photo ID. This includes passports, driving licences, and cards bearing the PASS mark.
Anyone who does not already have an accepted form of ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April. Further information is available at www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voterID or by calling 0800 328 0280.
The deadline for applying for postal votes is 5pm on Tuesday 21 April and the deadline for applying for proxy votes is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April.
Kate Blakemore, Deputy Returning Officer for West Norfolk, said: “Anyone wishing to vote in the Norfolk County Council Election must be registered, and I encourage all eligible residents to do so as soon as possible. Registration remains open until midnight on 20 April.”
