Residents are reminded to check their festive waste and recycling collection dates by visiting west-norfolk.gov.uk/yourbins.
Cllr Sandra Squire, Cabinet Member for Environment and Coastal, said:
“Our collection crews work hard all year round, and I want to thank them for everything they do. Christmas and New Year are the busiest times for domestic waste and recycling, so we’re asking residents to plan ahead and support our teams.
“With Bank Holidays falling on Thursday and Friday for Christmas, and another on New Year’s Day, some collection rounds will be delayed. Please check your collection dates online before putting your bins out.”
Key reminders for the festive period
- Extra recycling? Place it in any clear bag and put it out with your green recycling bin. Extra cardboard can be collected with your recycling collection if it's dry and left with the bin.
- Small electricals and batteries will still be collected – take advantage of this service. Leave them on top of your bin (batteries need to be in a clear plastic bag).
- Weekly food waste collections continue as normal. Using your caddy creates extra space in your black bin and is better for the environment. Food waste is processed through anaerobic digestion, generating clean electricity and producing fertiliser for local farms.
- Brown bin collections will also continue – check your dates online.
- No collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Year’s Day.
You can also dispose of excess waste before Christmas at household waste recycling centres. Visit norfolk.gov.uk for locations, opening times, and booking details.
Collection information will be published online and printed on the back pages of Your Local Paper on Wednesday 24 and 31 December 2025.
To report a missed bin, search for ‘missed bin’ at west-norfolk.gov.uk or call 0330 1099220 within two days of your scheduled collection (before 12 noon on the second day).
