The council’s ever-popular Food for Thought programme is coming to a new venue from this week. It will be taking place in a village for the first time.
Terrington St Clement Methodist Church on Wesley Road will host weekly sessions from 30 September.
These free, family-friendly sessions aim to help residents learn new cooking skills, swap recipe ideas and discover ways to eat healthy and nutritional food while also saving money.
The live cooking demonstrations will be taking place from 9:30am to 11:30am every Tuesday from September 30 until 16 December 2025. They are open to people of all ages and skill levels, are free to attend and no booking is needed so residents can just turn up to any session.
Cllr Jo Rust, Cabinet member for People and Communities, said:
“Our team have organised many Food for Thought sessions over the last few years. Having taken it to venues in Downham Market, Hunstanton and King’s Lynn several times, I’m pleased that we can now deliver them in our villages. I urge residents of Terrington, as well as Clenchwarton, Tilney All Saints, Terrington St John, the Walpoles and beyond to pop in on a Tuesday morning.
“Previous sessions have made a positive contribution to the lives of people in lots of ways. They give people new skills, help them to stay healthy and help them to save money. But they do even more: we know, for example, that they have helped people to overcome social isolation and loneliness.
“They are sociable and family-friendly so they really are open to all. We’ve had people who’ve come with their children, young adults who need advice about cooking on a budget and older people.
“And best of all it’s really flexible around people’s needs - people can turn up at any point, and stay for as long as they want to. Although I must say it’s worth staying to the end if you can, to enjoy the delicious food that our professional chefs produce.”
