From classic cars in King’s Lynn to fast karts in Hunstanton

Classic Car Day 2025

Published: Monday, 15th September 2025

The summer events season is almost over for 2025. Over 200 vintage vehicles lined the Tuesday Market Place in King’s Lynn last weekend and we’re hopeful for a sunny Hunny on 21 September.

Cllr Sue Lintern, Cabinet member for Culture and Events at the borough council, said:

“More than 225 classic cars joined our popular event, which is part of the wider Heritage Open Day event that takes place in King’s Lynn.

“The borough council organised some great entertainment on stage and thousands of people walked through the car park admiring some unique vehicles. I’m looking forward to seeing some more unique vehicles at our next, and last, free borough council activity of the summer season – The Hunstanton Soap Box Derby on Sunday 21 September.

“I’m hoping that it’s sunny in hunny for some fast-racing times as the unique and creative karts race down the hill in one of the most entertaining and fun events of the year! We had over 7000 spectators last year, I urge people to get to Hunstanton early to ensure they get a good spot to watch all the whacky racing.”

Over 60 karts are registered to race. They will be displayed on the Green from 9am. Round one of the racing starts at around 11:15am. Round one will be complete at 1pm, live music will then be performed on the Bandstand. Round two of racing commences at 2pm and should be complete around 4pm. More live music will be performed at the Bandstand afterwards, with trophy presentations for the winning karts from 4:30pm.

Cllr Lintern added:

“These free events could not take place if not for our excellent events, public open space and car parks teams that make them happen. I know that the Soap Box Derby is one of the hardest events to organise. I thank them for everything they do.”
