Work began last week to both the Inner Purfleet and Outer Purfleet.
On Monday 11 August, work started on the Environmental clean-up to the Inner Purfleet to address pollution caused by a recent fire at a neighbouring building.
Oil absorbent booms were deployed across accessible areas of open water. These items are not litter, they are designed to float and selectively absorb oil-based pollutants, without removing the water.
They are part of a coordinated clean-up effort and will remain to passively capture residual surface contamination.
After a day of clearing litter out of the Outer Purfleet, Aqua Serve a specialist in maintenance services came and put an aquatic dye in the water. This blue aquatic dye deflects ultraviolet rays, stopping the growth of weeds and algae.
This non-toxic dyes is an effective way of controlling algae and weeds without affecting the health of fish, wildlife and plants. As well as improving appearance of your water, leaving a temporary blue colouring.
