West Norfolk’s award-winning parks and green spaces will be joining hundreds of sites across the UK to celebrate Love Parks Week 2025, taking place from 25 July to 3 August.

The campaign celebrates the vital contribution green spaces make to wellbeing, community spirit, and quality of life.

Five of the borough’s most cherished locations have once again earned Green Flag status, a national mark of excellence for well-maintained and welcoming public spaces:

  • Boston Square Sensory Garden and Heritage Gardens, Hunstanton
  • Mintlyn Crematorium, Tower Gardens, and The Walks, King’s Lynn

Cllr Paul Bland, Cabinet Member for Parking and Open Spaces, praised the achievement:

“Receiving Green Flag accreditation at five sites is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our parks teams. It’s a proud moment for our staff and volunteers, whose passion ensures that these places remain valuable assets for everyone to enjoy.

“Love Parks Week encourages us all to reconnect with our local spaces and appreciate the benefits they bring to our health and wellbeing.”

The local celebration continues with King’s Lynn Park Run flying the Love Parks Week banner for the third year in a row. The campaign also coincides with the Music in the Bandstand series at The Walks:

  • Sunday 27 July: Live performance by Lucy West
  • Sunday 3 August: Hilgay Silver Band returns to delight park-goers

Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, Chief Executive of Keep Britain Tidy, said:

“Love Parks is an invitation to communities to celebrate their local green spaces. Parks improve our health and wellbeing, connect us with nature, and offer a space to come together. With the support of partners like the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, this campaign continues to grow and reach those who may not yet see parks as places for them.”
