The borough council Public Open Space team have planted over 20,000 flowers across West Norfolk to create some stunning summer displays.
Council-owned parks and open spaces have been transformed into colourful summer havens. More than 7,000 summer bedding plants have been planted in The Walks, King’s Lynn, and another 7,000 in Hunstanton, with further flowers spread over other key location including street planters and hanging baskets in Downham Market, Hunstanton and King's Lynn.
Councillor Paul Bland, Cabinet Member for Parking and Open Spaces, said:
“Our public open space team do an incredible job making our borough a beautiful place to live, work, and visit. Their dedication and passion shine through every flower they plant, and the stunning displays we see this summer are a testament to their hard work. We’re proud of their achievements and excited to enjoy these vibrant, welcoming spaces throughout the season.
“From nurturing seedlings to planting thousands of blooms, the hard work of our public open space teams ensures parks and green spaces remain beautiful and inviting for residents and visitors alike and continue to play a vital role in creating welcoming, attractive environments that foster community pride and well-being.”
The process begins at the borough council plant nursery where we grow and nurture 70,000 plants every year. Then, through our plant giveaways, we recycle the winter bedding to make space for the summer displays. And finally, the team skilfully transform our open spaces into colourful, lively environments ready for all to enjoy.
The Borough Council remains committed to maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of West Norfolk. The efforts of our Public Open Space team play a vital role in creating welcoming, attractive environments that foster community pride and well-being.
