Published: Wednesday, 18th June 2025

GeoPlace has announced the winners of this year’s Data Quality and Improvement Award 2025 and the address management team at the borough council have been recognised with a Platinum Award.

The award, for exceptional data quality in the management of its Local Land and Property Gazetteer, was presented on 22nd May 2025 at the GeoPlace annual conference, attended by over 450 data management specialists.

Cllr Jim Moriarty, Cabinet member for Planning and Licensing said:

"Address data is fundamental to every local authority service, enabling the identification and improvement of services and outcomes for people and businesses. This data acts as a ‘golden thread’ that efficiently links and connects various processes and systems, acknowledged by the Local Government Association as key to almost everything that’s delivered or achieved by councils. It's wonderful to see the exceptional efforts of this team acknowledged in this manner. Address management is one of those often-overlooked tasks that people seldom consider, yet it is crucial for the effective delivery of numerous services and must be precise. I want to extend my gratitude and congratulations to everyone involved".

Presenting the award to Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, Nick Chapallaz, Managing Director of GeoPlace, said:

"High-quality address data plays a central role in local government operations, and King’s Lynn Council’s achievement is a reflection of real professionalism. At the GeoPlace conference on 22nd May, we were proud to recognise this commitment to excellence. Accurate location data improves services for citizens, supports smarter planning, and strengthens the digital foundations of local public service".

Each year, these awards celebrate best practice and outstanding examples of data management by local authorities. They highlight the vital role of Address Custodians in collecting and curating this data. Their work promotes better data management across the authority, demonstrating the skill and commitment required to maintain high standards in an ever-changing dataset.
