The council’s ever-popular Food for Thought programme is returning, this time at The Community Hub inside Hunstanton Town Hall, for 10 weeks from May 14 2025.
These free, family-friendly sessions aim to help residents learn new cooking skills, swap recipe ideas and discover ways to eat healthy and nutritional food while also saving money.
The live cooking demonstrations will be taking place from 9.30am-11.30am every Wednesday from May 14 until 16 July. They are open to people of all ages and skill levels, are free to attend and no booking is needed so residents can just turn up to any session.
Cllr Jo Rust, Cabinet member for People and Communities, said: “I would highly recommend attending these to enjoy the live cooking demonstrations of how to cook healthily at home on a budget – and of course, to taste the results!
“Previous sessions have made a positive contribution to people in lots of ways. They give people new skills, help them to stay healthy and help them to save money. But they do even more: we know, for example, that they have helped people to overcome social isolation and loneliness.
“They are sociable and family-friendly so they really are open to all. We’ve had people who’ve come with their children, young adults who need advice about cooking on a budget and older people.
“And best of all it’s really flexible around people’s needs - people can turn up at any point, and stay for as long as they want to. Although I must say it’s worth staying to the end if you can, to enjoy the delicious food that our professional chefs produce.”
Each week there will be tips about how to cook healthy and tasty food without breaking the bank. The themes to be focused on are listed below, booking is not required:
- Week 1 (14/5): Breakfast
- Week 2 (21/5): Lunch
- Week 3 (28/5): Snacks
