Fly-tipper ends up with yolk on his face and shells out £200 penalty this Easter

Fly-tipped rubbish dumped on a lay-by on the A47

Published: Wednesday, 16th April 2025

One fly-tipper has ended up with egg on his face this Easter.

He offered to help his friend with her rubbish, left it in his car for a couple of days, then pulled into a lay-by on the A47 and dumped it there.

When we interviewed her, she told us EGGactly who took the rubbish away. This Easter he’s had to shell out for more than just an Easter egg having paid a £200 fixed penalty notice fine.

Cllr Sandra Squire, our Cabinet Member for Environment and Coastal, said:

“Dumping rubbish is a blight on our beautiful West Norfolk countryside and a detriment to the local environment. It is also a criminal offence and wholly unacceptable.

“What fly-tippers fail to realise is that we can often identify the source of the rubbish. The fixed penalty fine for this is £400 but is reduced for prompt payment to £200, which has been paid. Fly-tipping never pays: it’s cheaper at the tip.”

Go online and book a trip to the tip. They are open all over Easter so hop down to your local Norfolk County Council Household Waste Recycling Centre and dispose of your household waste safely and for free book online at www.norfolk.gov.uk.
