Things are about to get tasty in North Lynn thanks to free food sessions being organised by the Lily team at the borough council.
Food for Thought are free family-friendly sessions aimed at helping residents learn new cooking skills, swap recipe ideas, and discover ways to eat healthy and nutritional food while also saving money.
Lily, a service that is owned and managed by the borough council, is organising 12 weeks of interactive sessions. The Beacon Café at North Lynn Methodist Church on Losinga Road, PE30 2DH, is to host the weekly drop-in meetings between 9:30am and 11:30 every Tuesday from 30 April 2024.
Cllr Jo Rust, Cabinet member for People and Communities, said: “Food for Thought has already helped hundreds of residents in Downham Market, Hunstanton and King’s Lynn. I’m pleased to see them being introduced in North Lynn from the end of this month.
“Previous sessions have made a positive contribution towards overcoming social isolation and loneliness. They are sociable and family friendly, children are welcome to attend with an adult. People can turn up at any point, and stay for as long as they can, but also get to taste food cooked by a professional chef. I believe these free weekly sessions will prove invaluable to residents as the increasing cost of living continues to affect us all.”
Each week there will be tips about how to cook healthy and tasty food without breaking the bank. The themes to be focused on are listed below, booking is not required:
Week 1 (30/4): Breakfast
Week 2 (7/5): Lunch
Week 3 (14/5): Dinner
Week 4 (21/5): Snacks
Week 5 (28/5): Half term family fun
Week 6 (4/6): Dried and tinned foods
