World Tai Chi Day comes to Hunstanton

World Tai Chi Day is on Saturday 27th April and to mark it there will be a free mass come-and-try Tai Chi event on the Green in the morning.

Cllr Simon Ring, Cabinet member for Tourism, Events and Marketing, explained:

“This is an opportunity for residents and visitors to experience Tai Chi first hand in a relaxed, enjoyable environment with likeminded people. All are welcome, from complete novices to those who have participated before. I look forward to seeing the Green as full as possible with everyone doing Tai Chi.”

The Chinese martial art of Tai Chi known for its slow, intentional movements and is popular as a gentle form of exercise and moving meditation with benefits to mental and physical health. Qi Gong is a simple form of Tai Chi harnessing the power of breathing and movement.

The morning is organised by ABC Tai Chi and offers a fun introduction to Tai Chi and Qi Gong:

  • 10am to 11am - gentle standing Tai Chi and Qi Gong
  • 11am to 12pm - limited mobility session including seated Tai Chi

Allan Howlings from ABC Tai Chi said:

"We are looking forward to sharing our passion for Tai Chi and Qi Gong and to encourage more people to experience this truly holistic exercise system first hand."

If attending the limited mobility session then you may bring your own chair or use the ones provided. Meet by the bandstand. The sessions are free of charge but donations to the RNLI are welcome.
