Students from King’s Oak Academy are exhibiting their artwork inside the Shakespeare Barn Art Gallery inside the St George’s Guildhall complex this week.
Children from reception, year 1 and year 2 took part in a private viewing event with their families on Tuesday 7 November and the free exhibition is now open for the public to view between 11am and 4pm until Saturday 11 November 2023.
Jane Hamilton, Learning and Engagement Officer for the borough council, said:
“Last month this space was displaying works from 10 East Anglian artists in the Heads and Tails exhibition. Following a successful visit by Year 2 students to that exhibition it has inspired them to create their own. It’s fantastic that these young people, aged from 4 to 7, are now using this space for their creations.
“As part of the St. George’s Guildhall and Creative Hub project, we want the community to engage with their local heritage. As part of our work with King’s Oak Academy, we have enabled their children to experience visiting an art gallery, supported them in their understanding and appreciation of art and provided them with a space for them to design their own exhibition and feel a great sense of pride in their artwork. We are keen to hear from other local schools or groups that are interested in visiting or exhibiting at the Guildhall.”
