The borough council’s new draft corporate strategy has started its journey to adoption by the council. This document sets out the council’s ambitions for the next four years.
It will be considered by the council’s corporate performance panel and cabinet in October, before going to full council on 23 November.
Council leader, Cllr Terry Parish, said: “This document sets out our priorities and the principles on which we will deliver them over the next four years.
“It is considered, it is realistic and it is firmly rooted in the idea that we want to do the best we possibly can for the people of West Norfolk.
“We want to put West Norfolk on the map as a destination, create as many opportunities as we can for people and businesses to thrive, and make sure that everyone is able to enjoy the benefits that these opportunities will bring.”
The corporate strategy sets out four priorities:
Promote growth and prosperity to benefit West Norfolk
To create job opportunities, support economic growth, develop skills needed locally, encourage housing development and infrastructure that meets local need and promote West Norfolk as a destination.
Protect our environment
To create a cleaner, greener, and better protected West Norfolk by considering environmental issues in all we do and by encouraging residents and businesses to do the same.
Efficient and effective delivery of our services
To provide cost-effective, efficient services that meet the needs of our local communities, promote good governance, and provide sustainable financial planning and appropriate staffing.
Support our communities
To support the health and wellbeing of our communities, help prevent homelessness, assist people with access to benefits advice and ensure there is equal access to opportunities.
Under each of these priorities the strategy sets out more detail of the actions the council will take to deliver these priorities.
It also sets out the principles on which the council will operate, including transparency and collaboration, how the priorities will be delivered and how progress will be monitored.
