An exciting interactive visual and sound installation is coming to King’s Lynn this autumn by local producers Collusion. The large scale sound sculpture and projection will give a fresh perspective to the thoughts and feelings of the young people of King’s Lynn.

Situated underneath the monastic tower of Greyfriars at Tower Gardens, a sculpture of sound mirrors - made of polished sheets of steel - will amplify sounds, creating a vibration in the metal that the spectator can touch and feel. Accompanying the artwork will be inviting colourful geometric visuals, projected onto the magnificent monastic tower, which will recreate reflections and distortions and be an ideal photo opportunity for all. Juxtaposed in this peaceful memorial setting, the multi-sensory experience will allow the spectator to contemplate the tone and mood of the young people but also invite them to reflect on their own identity and the identity of place.

Sound Mirrors is a sound and visual based artwork produced by Collusion with lead artist Oliver Payne and visual artist Francesca Cant and co-created with the young people of King's Lynn through sound and visual workshops. Sound Mirrors is part of a larger project WE ARE LYNN, which involves the young people of King’s Lynn to co-create new public artworks with Collusion that explores their identities through interactivity, light, sound and projection. Director and Co-founder, Rachel Drury adds “Our WE ARE LYNN projects aim to empower the young people of King’s Lynn to feel connected to their town and support their self-expression and well-being. We want to help amplify their voices and share their creativity. Come along and see for yourself how their amazing efforts have come together to create Sound Mirrors ”.

Sound Mirrors installation runs between Thursday 12th - Sunday 29th October at Greyfriars Tower, King’s Lynn PE30 5BZ from noon to 11pm. To get the most out of this experience, Collusion advises you to visit after dark. They would also love to see your photos, so include #SoundMirrors when sharing.
