Primary schools in west Norfolk have been invited to take part in a competition aimed at Year 5 students in the 2023/4 academic year.
Living For the Future is an ideas competition for west Norfolk based primary schools and has been created to encourage the creativity in every child and to educate students on the issue of sustainability, with a focus on designing ideas for greener cities, towns and villages in our world.
The free to enter competition is a partnership between the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk and 8billionideas, an educational learning company.
Cllr Michael de Whalley, Cabinet member for Climate Change and Biodiversity, said:
“We’re looking for our future climate champions. Students will be asked to design a sustainable place to live using entrepreneurial skills, pinpointing problems, creating a concept, pitching their idea and then showcasing it in the final.”
The competition will take place during Term 1 of the 2023/4 academic year for Year 5 students. It will be kick-started with a virtual assembly delivered by 8billionideas and a virtual final with a chance for schools to be in the showcase. There is no cost for local schools to take part as the competition is being sponsored by the borough council.
Schools have until 15 of September 2023 to register an interest to take part in the competition.
