King's Lynn summer events programme announced

King's Lynn Summer Events 2022

Published: Wednesday, 4th May 2022

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk has announced its programme of King’s Lynn events for 2022.

Popular King’s Lynn events, organised by the borough council and partners, will return including the Hanse Festival, Folk in the Town, the Hanseatic Festival of Watersports, the Mini Meet, Mods and Rockers and Classic Car Day.

Cllr Graham Middleton, Deputy leader of the borough council and Cabinet Member for Business, Culture and Heritage, said: "The events season starts with a bang with fireworks, beacon lighting, activities for children, live music and entertainment for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the long Bank Holiday weekend from 2 June."

Afterwards, many established King’s Lynn summer events will return alongside new ones this year that include Soulful Sunday, 90’s/00’s music and Simple Sounds.

Cllr Middleton added: “This programme of events being held in King’s Staithe Square, South Quay or the Tuesday Market Place will encourage people back into King’s Lynn town centre to support their local retailers and hospitality businesses.

"We’ve added to the variety of events available to ensure that the town feels attractive and vibrant.  In this way we hope that visitors who may have only come for the event, will want to return again and again to enjoy what the town has to offer."

The full programme will be regularly updated to the events page of the borough council website and can be viewed here: west-norfolk.gov.uk/events. Borough council social media channels will also be frequently updated.

Cllr Stuart Dark MBE, Leader of the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, added: "We know west Norfolk is a great place to live and visit over the summer and these additional events in our principle historic town will give residents and visitors alike more reasons to visit King's Lynn.

"It's a special year with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and the borough council has been very proactive to mark this historic occasion through the Loyal Address which was presented to Her Majesty The Queen, the borough coin which will be given to every primary school aged child in the district and the many events throughout the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend in June. The borough council has also awarded over £11,000 in grants for local Parish's and communities to celebrate the occasion and offered support to Downham Market and Hunstanton Town Councils.

"We love west Norfolk and these Summer events held in King's Lynn are aimed at supporting our great local businesses and give people an additional reason to visit."
