Notice of Election: Downham Market Town Council By-Election

On Thursday 5 May voters in Downham Market are due to go to the polls to vote in the Downham Market Town Council By-Election.

Potential candidates must submit nomination papers by 4pm on Tuesday 5 April.

Anyone wishing to vote must register by Thursday 14 April if they have not already done so.

If enough valid nominations are received, voting will take place at:

  • Downham Market Town Hall (Old Town Ward & South Ward)
  • Sports Federation Building (North Ward)
  • Dance Studio, Alive Downham Leisure Centre (East Ward) The polling station will be open from 7am to 10pm.

If no valid nominations are received, the election will be re-run at a later date. If not enough valid nominations are received to trigger voting, nominees will be automatically co-opted onto the council.

Anyone who is unable to vote in person can check if they are eligible for a postal or proxy vote by contacting Electoral Services on 01553 616773.

The deadline for applications to vote by post is 5pm on Tuesday 19 April (for new postal voting arrangements and amendments to existing arrangements, including postal proxies). This is also the deadline for amendments to existing arrangements to vote by proxy.

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Tuesday 26 April.

The deadline for emergency proxy vote applications (if the emergency arose after 5pm on Tuesday 26 April) is 5pm on Tuesday 26 April.

The votes will be counted on Friday 6 May at the borough council offices, King’s Court, Chapel Street, King’s Lynn, PE30 1EX.
