Vision King's Lynn rail to river route update

Artists impression of what Purfleet Street could look like under the Vision King's Lynn plans

Published: Tuesday, 8th March 2022

Published on behalf of Vision King's Lynn.

Thank you so much to everyone who shared their thoughts on the proposed artwork for the rail to river route, their suggestions of themes, and their ideas and feedback for the route.

In total 51 people took part by sharing their thoughts. The feedback was varied and included a host of ideas about materials and media, themes for the art, and ways to engage people in the development. There was also feedback about the route itself – such as cycle storage – and suggestions for marketing the route, when complete.

The Town Deal Public Realm and Repurposing Working Group is now in the process of progressing a bid to the Arts Council for additional funding for the artwork for the route. The bid is set to be submitted in April, and feedback from the recent public engagement – and earlier consultation through Vision King’s Lynn – will help to shape the bid.

Your feedback will help to shape our bid. If we’re successful, there will be opportunities to get involved in the development of the artwork and the process to commission it.

Vicky Etheridge, Chair, Town Deal Public Realm and Repurposing Working Group said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts”

“We believe the route – and the artwork – could be really transformational for King’s Lynn, for residents and visitors alike, and we’re excited by the opportunity.
