Downham Market fireworks to go off with a bang with support from the borough council

Downham Market Fireworks display, organised by the Round Table 542, is being supported by the borough council this year.

The charity fireworks event takes place from 4pm on Saturday 6 November at Stradsett Hall and includes a funfair, music and stalls.

Cllr Stuart Dark, Leader of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, explained: “The last 18 months have been challenging for not only our communities but for many great local charities, as fundraising has been affected at a time when demand has increased for many residents.

“We are already underwriting the surplus that would be raised for charity at the Hunstanton display, should attendance be slightly lower this year due to the covid situation, and the borough council will now do the same to support the Downham Market Round Table with theirs, to help this excellent evening and the great west Norfolk charities it supports.”

Ryan Rix, organiser from Downham Market Round Table 542, said: "We held our 2019 display at the new venue of Stradsett Hall and are keen to cement on that successful event when we return on Saturday.

“We’re grateful for the support the borough council has offered this year that will benefit local charities. We are probably the largest volunteer run fireworks event in the area, and all the monies we raise go to charitable causes.

“We have a full-sized fairground with dodgems, a rollercoaster and other rides will also be on the grounds, along with archery and axe throwing. If vendors would like to be part of this, or future events, please contact us by emailing info@dmroundtable.co.uk. We look forward to putting on the best show ever.”
