Date for Downham Market Town Council by-election

A request to hold an election to fill one vacancy on the South Downham Ward of Downham Market Town Council has been received.

The date of the election (subject to a contest) has been fixed as Thursday 28 October 2021.

The Notice of Election will be published on Thursday 23 September 2021, and nomination papers must be received by the Returning Officer after that date, but no later than 4pm on Friday 1 October 2021. Anyone who is not already registered to vote must register by Tuesday 12 October 2021 to be able to vote in this election.

Eligible electors will be able to cast their vote at the designated polling station (Downham Market Town Council Offices). The Polling station will be open from 7am until 10pm.

Anyone unable to vote in person on that day should check if they are eligible for a postal or proxy vote by contacting Electoral Services on 01553 616773.

The deadline for applications to vote by post is 5pm on Wednesday 13 October 2021 (whether new or an amendment to an existing arrangement, including postal proxies).

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 20 October 2021.

The last day for receipt of emergency proxy vote applications is 5pm on Thursday 28 October 2021.

The counting of the votes will be held on Friday 29 October 2021. Time and venue to be confirmed.
