Information about the policies that will guide the future of our borough
The policies
The Site Allocation and Development Management Policies Plan is part of the Local Plan. It contains a set of policies and proposed land uses that will guide the future of our borough up to 2026.
Once the Local Plan is adopted, all planning applications will be judged against these policies.
We are in the final stages of getting the Local Plan adopted. We have submitted The Site Allocations and Development Management Policies Pre-Submission Document, and supporting information, to the Secretary of State for independent examination.

What Happens Next?
Mr David Hoggar BA MSc MRTPI MCIHT of the Planning Inspectorate will carry out the independent examination on behalf of the Secretary of State.
Mr Hoggar's task is to check and confirm the Local Plan is 'sound', which means:
- is it justified?
- will it be effective?
- is it in line with national policies?
- does it take into account comments as part of public consultations?
He will then report on his findings, and advice on any changes needed to make the Local Plan 'sound'.
To help the Inspector there is a Programme Officer - Mrs Julie Belding.
