CIL Charges – Annual Indexation

In calculating individual charges, we are required to obtain the ‘RICS Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Index' (as published by the Building Cost Information Service of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) on 1 November each year. This figure must then be used in the CIL calculation for permitted applications for the following year.

The amount of CIL payable is calculated when planning permission is granted.

Indexation will be applied to rates in the adopted CIL Charging Schedule on the 1 January annually.

The below table sets out our current indexation rates:

Table of indexed CIL rates
Indexed CIL rate from 1 January 2025 (391) Indexed CIL rate from 1 January 2026 (400)
£54.69m2 £55.94m2
£82.03m2 £83.92m2
£136.71m2 £139.86m2

Retail warehouses

Retail warehouses are large stores specialising in the sale of household goods (such as carpets, furniture and electrical goods) DIY items and other ranges of goods catering for mainly car-borne customers.
