Information about the redress scheme and our landlords forum
Redress scheme
A lettings agent or property manager must be a member of an approved redress scheme.
The scheme will consider disputes between tenants or consumers and the lettings agent or property manager. All members of a scheme must act in accordance with a Code of Practice.
If there is an issue to be investigated, the relevant scheme will listen to all people involved, consider the facts and decide what action, if any, should be taken to resolve the matter.
If a Letting Agent doesn't join a scheme, there could be a fine of up to £5,000.
The two approved schemes are:
Redress Scheme Name | Telephone | Website |
---|---|---|
The Property Ombudsman Scheme | 01722 333306 | www.tpos.co.uk |
The Property Redress Scheme | 02082 757131 | www.theprs.co.uk |
Information about the redress scheme can be found on the GOV.UK website.
