Inspection of accounts years ended 31 March 2021, 31 March 2022 and 31 March 2023 

Notice is given that the unaudited statement of accounts for the following years have been published on the Council’s website:

The statements of accounts are unaudited and may be subject to change.

Notice is hereby given, under Sections 26 of the Act, that from 18th September 2024 until 30th October 2024 inclusive any person may inspect the Council’s accounting records for 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23 and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts, and other documents relating to those records, and make copies of all or any part of those records or documents. Some documents may not be available for inspection if they contain commercially confidential or personal information.

The above is a requirement of the legislation under Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015, Regulations 14 & 15 and the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 which can be viewed below:

The statements of accounts are subject to external audit review by Ernst & Young LLP who can be contacted at One Cambridge Square, Cambridge North, Cambridge CB4 0AE. (Tel No: 01223 394400, Email: DRiglar@uk.ey.com).

During the same period, a local government elector for the Borough Council of Kings Lynn & West Norfolk (or his/her representative) may question the auditor about the accounting records or raise an objection to the accounts, as set out in sections 26 and 27 of the Act. Written notice of any objection, and the grounds on which it is made, must be sent both to the auditor, at the address given above, and to the Council’s Executive Director - Central & Community Services at the address given below.

The Borough Council continues to work on the backlog in consultation with our external auditors (EY LLP). Further notifications will be placed on the website once the 2023/24 Draft Statement of Accounts is available for public inspection.
