TPO Test page

This online tool will help you find out if:

  • you have any trees on your land protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO), or
  • you're within the boundaries of a conservation area

All trees that measure over 75mm in diameter at 1.5m from ground level are protected by the conservation area regulations. You'll need to notify us of any works to trees over this size. The easiest way to do this is by using our tree work application form.

If you have any queries, please ring 01553 616200.

TPO's are usually made to preserve trees with landscape and amenity value under the following types:

  • individual tree – shown as a triangle and T1, T2
  • group – shown as a polygon and G1, G2
  • woodland - shown as a polygon and W1, W2
  • area – shown as a polygon and A1, A2

Any tree that falls under a TPO will require consent from us before any works are undertaken. The best way to do this is to use the online planning portal or by using our tree work application form.

To find tree preservation orders (TPO's) and trees in conservation areas, please provide us with your address by following the link 'set your location'. You'll then able to view TPO's and trees in conservation areas that are near to you.
